The Dick Haymes Society
Ballad Singer Supreme! |
In 1974, Maurice Dunn and Denis Brown formed The Dick Haymes Society in the Birmingham area in England. They quickly branched out to the USA with Roger Dooner, to handle the USA membership. Now twenty-eight years later the admiration for Mr. Haymes continues with members covering the globe.
Twice a year Maurice and Roger produce a Newsletter for the members of the DHS. The publication includes items and articles on Mr. Haymes and other performers from the same era. Many letters are included from members that help secure the fact that Dick Haymes was a true master of his craft. Our members wait patiently for each new issue and they are worth waiting for, containing many pages of interesting reading along with wonderful photographs. It is amazing, although Dick died on March 28, 1980; Roger and Maurice keep the information in each Newsletter fresh and exciting.
There are no "dues" as such, however members send donations and are very supportive to help pay the printing and postage costs for the Newsletter.
